Fyous Launches £1.5M Crowdfunding for Polymorphic Manufacturing Expansion

Fyous, a pioneer in polymorphic manufacturing, has launched a £1.5 million equity crowdfunding round on Crowdcube to further develop and expand its shape-shifting tooling technologies.

The round follows a £1.3 million angel investment in 2025 and offers a wider range of investors the chance to take a stake in Fyous at a £25 million valuation.

Strong Interest From Industry

The company already has a waitlist of manufacturers in the footwear and dental sectors, and early expressions of interest in this crowdfunding round total £724,000.

Warning: This is a high-risk investment. Investors should be prepared to lose all invested capital. More details are available at Crowdcube’s risk warning page.

Innovative Polymorphic Manufacturing Technology

Fyous has developed a patent-pending approach to producing manufacturing tooling that supports rapid prototyping and cost-effective production of mass-customised products. Unlike traditional fixed tooling, Fyous’ machines use tens of thousands of digitally controlled pins that can reconfigure in minutes to create temporary injection moulds, forming tools, and workholding fixtures.

The technology has already been applied to polymorphic forming tools and workholding fixtures, including a project with the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. Fyous is also constructing its first polymorphic moulding machine in collaboration with Peacocks Medical Group, the UK’s largest independent orthotics provider. Funds from the crowdfunding campaign will support development for dental aligner production, targeting a market valued at $9.9 billion in 2024.

Founders And Funding History

Founded in 2020, Fyous was created by Joshua Shires, former CTO of technology accessories manufacturer Mous, and Thomas Bloomfield, previously an engineer at MetLase, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Unipart. The company has raised £3.2 million to date, with support from Innovate UK and Scott Crump, inventor of Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) and former chairman of NASDAQ-listed Stratasys.

Company Vision

Joshua Shires, CEO of Fyous, said: “Apple put a thousand songs in your pocket with the iPod, and Fyous is putting a million moulds on your desktop with polymorphic manufacturing. We believe polymorphic manufacturing could be the next 3D printing. This is a new production category that transforms CAD files into temporary tooling for faster product development and affordable mass customisation. Fyous addresses the bottlenecks that hamper injection moulding and industrial-scale 3D printing, and has the potential to lower costs, increase capacity, and reduce waste in multiple industries.”
