The inaugural event will take place from 3–5 June 2027 at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Centre—CICAD—in Dakar, Senegal.
Organised around the theme “Independence and Inclusion Through Assistive Technology,” the three-day programme will combine an international exhibition, policy dialogue, practical workshops, innovation awards and structured networking.

A dedicated African assistive technology platform
AT Expo Africa is being developed as the first African platform focused entirely on access to and use of assistive technology.
The event aims to bring together assistive technology users, organisations of persons with disabilities, clinicians, manufacturers, distributors, innovators, governments, development partners, UN agencies, investors and civil-society organisations.
The Government of Senegal is hosting the first edition in partnership with the Organisation Africaine pour le Développement des Centres pour Personnes Handicapées and ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology.
The initiative is intended to become a biennial event, moving between different African subregions. This model could help build a continuing continental marketplace and policy forum rather than a single exhibition disconnected from long-term implementation.

Exhibition, dialogue and practical learning
The exhibition will be accompanied by a dialogue programme organised around three connected pillars.
A Leadership and Policy Forum will convene senior stakeholders to examine priority issues affecting assistive technology systems. The Implementation and Impact Stage will feature evidence-based presentations, practical experience and scalable approaches. Exhibitor workshops will provide space for demonstrations and hands-on learning across prosthetics, orthotics, hearing, vision and digital assistive technology.
The programme will also mark World Assistive Technology Day on 4 June, with awareness activities and recognition initiatives. Innovation awards will highlight the contribution of young innovators and startups.
The call for papers is open to submissions for the Implementation and Impact Stage. The published deadline is 15 November 2026.
