ISPO Webinar on Digital CAD/CAM and Robotic Manufacturing in P&O: From Clinical Data to Custom Devices

22/10/2026

Digital tools are changing how prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) devices are designed and manufactured. On 2 December 2026, the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) will host an online webinar examining the digital journey from clinical data to custom P&O devices.

Titled “From Clinical Data to Custom P&O Devices,” the session will focus on digital CAD/CAM workflows, CNC machining and robotic manufacturing. It will feature Antoine Salim Harika of Lebanon and Karlo Obrovac, MD, PhD, of Croatia.

The webinar is scheduled for 13:00 GMT. Registration is free for ISPO members and costs €15 for non-members. Live interpretation will be available in Spanish and French, and the recording will be available on demand, according to the event announcement.

Connecting clinical information with device production

The programme will explore how 3D scanning and digital modelling can support clinical workflows and the production of custom devices. These methods can carry information from assessment into design and fabrication, while CNC and robotic machining offer additional ways to manufacture components.

For clinicians and technicians, the potential value lies in how well each stage works together. Reliable data capture, suitable design decisions and consistent manufacturing all matter to the fit and function of a device. Digital processes may also support repeatability, but their usefulness depends on appropriate equipment, staff skills and clinical oversight.

These considerations are relevant across the IMEA region, where P&O services operate in varied clinical and manufacturing settings. Digital tools may create opportunities to improve workflow and consistency, while adoption also requires attention to local infrastructure, training and maintenance needs. The webinar offers practitioners a chance to learn about current approaches and consider how they might apply in their own services.

ISPO’s continuing professional development programme includes educational webinars and makes event recordings available through ISPOLearn.

Webinar details and registration

The webinar takes place online on 2 December 2026 at 13:00 GMT. Registration is free for ISPO members and €15 for non-members. Spanish and French interpretation will be provided, and participants will be able to access the recording on demand.

For prosthetists, orthotists, rehabilitation professionals and service managers, the session is an opportunity to explore how digital workflows connect clinical information with custom device production.
