UAB Medicine, the academic health system of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is recruiting a certified orthotic and prosthetic technician for its O&P division in Birmingham, Alabama. The full-time post works morning shifts, Monday to Friday, in support of certified orthotists and prosthetists.
Role overview
- Fabricate custom orthotic and prosthetic devices and components under practitioner direction
- Support evaluation, fitting, repair and delivery of devices
- Act as a technical resource in the laboratory, helping set quality standards and efficient workflows
- Train and mentor technicians, residents and students
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, plus an accredited O&P technician pathway or equivalent experience
- ABC Certified Orthotic & Prosthetic Technician (CTPO), or eligibility within a set timeframe
- At least two years of supervised O&P fabrication experience
- ABC Certified Orthotic Fitter status and availability for out-of-hours cover preferred
