ICRC Delivers Critical Health Services to 21,800 Disabled Afghans in 2025

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan says that 21,800 people with disabilities received health services in 2025.

In a message issued on Wednesday, February 11, the committee said that prosthetics, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation services were provided at seven ICRC physical rehabilitation centers.

According to the organization, people with disabilities regained their independence through access to healthcare services and were able to reintegrate into social life.

The ICRC also stated that in 2025, more than 1.26 million people in Afghanistan received primary healthcare services.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says that 1.5 million people in Afghanistan are living with severe disabilities.

The United Nations has further specified that nearly one-quarter of Afghans (24.6 percent) live with mild disabilities, while 40 percent have moderate disabilities, and around 13.9 percent live with severe disabilities.
