I graduated in Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2010 from INFSPM in Algiers and currently work in an Orthoprosthetic Center in Algeria.
What is your speciality / O&P passion?
I believe in polyvalence in our profession. I am passionate about treating all types of patients, from pediatric orthotics to complex prosthetics. My main speciality is the Conservative Treatment of Scoliosis. I am the first and only Algerian orthotist to hold a Master’s degree in this field from ISICO, Italy. My mission is to bring international standards of care to Algerian patients by applying the latest protocols and integrating digital tools like CFAO and 3D scanning.
What do you like most about practicing O&P?
Restoring dignity and independence. The best moment is when a patient realizes they can walk, stand, or live normally again. That is why I do this work.
What frustrates you about O&P?
The limited access to advanced materials and technology in our region. However, this challenge motivates me to innovate and to adapt global protocols to serve my patients with the best possible quality.
What is your greatest patient story?
My most inspiring case was a young man with bilateral tibial amputation. When he first came to me, he was crawling, with no hope and very low morale. We started with a preparatory prosthesis. The day he stood up for the first time, he cried because he could not believe he was on his feet again. Later, we fitted him with definitive prostheses. Today, he is walking, he drives, and he even rides his motorcycle. He still sends me videos of his progress. This story reminds me why early rehabilitation and psychological support are so important.
How do you build rapport with patients?
By listening first. Every patient has a different story, fear, and goal. I take the time to explain, to educate, and to involve them in their treatment plan. For me, trust and clear communication are the foundation of good compliance and good results.
