Registration is open for the Nigerian Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics Students (NAPOTS) South East Zonal Convention 2026, taking place at FUTO, Owerri, from 1–4 December 2026.
The convention’s theme is “CLOCK IT: Cultivating Leaders for Optimal Care, Knowledge, Innovation & Transformation.” Its programme brings together clinical learning, career development and opportunities for students to connect with one another. Registration is available online, with an early bird fee of ₦25,000 and a late registration fee of ₦35,000.
NAPOTS has announced keynotes and panel sessions, workshops, career sessions, and a talent connect and networking programme. Debate, public speaking and a quiz competition will give students further opportunities to develop and demonstrate skills beyond clinical practice. The four days will also include cultural presentations, games, pageantry, awards and a gala night.
For prosthetics and orthotics students, the value of a convention extends beyond its formal sessions. Meeting peers from other programmes can expose students to different approaches to patient care, fabrication and clinical training. Career conversations can also help them understand the roles available after graduation and the skills employers and service providers need.
The CLOCK IT theme puts leadership alongside knowledge and innovation. That is a relevant combination for students preparing to enter O&P services: good outcomes depend on technical competence, communication with patients and colleagues, and the ability to adapt as clinical methods and technologies develop. The announced workshops and panel discussions offer a setting in which students can explore those questions with speakers and peers.
The convention also gives students a chance to practise speaking with confidence. Debate and public speaking may seem separate from clinical work, but explaining an assessment, discussing a treatment option or advocating for access to care all require clear communication.
