What do you like most about practicing O&P?

What I love most about this field is that we are rare. Few people truly understand what we do, and even fewer can deliver the level of personalisation and impact that O&P professionals provide.

I feel proud when I can offer something others can’t, especially when it brings real change to someone's life. I’m passionate about learning, discovering the hidden secrets of this profession, and sharing them with others—because empowering practitioners means empowering patients.

What frustrates you about O&P?

There is so much know-how, yet so little access to it. Getting technical or practical knowledge is often difficult and full of roadblocks. It sometimes feels like knowledge is hidden behind barriers, and that slows progress and limits the impact we can have as a global community.

What is your greatest patient story in O&P?

There was a little girl—born with the absence of three limbs. She was beautiful, bright, and full of dreams. She simply wanted to be like other kids, to run, play, and smile. We built her a prosthetic arm and gave her back part of that dream. Her smile is engraved in my memory. She reminded me why I do what I do—and whenever I feel tired or discouraged, I remember her face, and it pushes me forward.

I don’t just build devices—I build hope and I see myself as a "wish-maker" for the people who trust me with their lives.

How do you build rapport with patients in your care?

I treat every patient like they’re family—because they are. When they feel I truly care, they trust me, they follow the plan, and together we succeed.
This relationship is what makes O&P special: it's not just clinical, it's deeply human.
