The Director of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Barsh, stated that "injured individuals in Gaza are not only killed by the bullets of the Zionist enemy, but also by antibiotic-resistant microbes. Doctors now have no choice but to amputate limbs to save the lives of the wounded and injured."
In a press statement today, Saturday, Al-Barsh expressed his regret over the situation that has forced doctors to expose patients to amputation instead of providing them with medication or antibiotics, which the Israeli enemy prevents from entering the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that "the enemy is exerting all its power to carry out a comprehensive extermination of the health sector," noting that "the emergence of microbes that do not respond to antibiotics indicates that the health crisis has reached an irreversible stage, leaving the doctor helpless, faced with the harsh choice of either amputating the infected limb to save the injured or facing death."
According to Al-Barsh, the second "Gideon Vehicle" operation announced by the enemy last month resulted in the deaths of 1,891 people, including 482 children, 174 women, and 75 elderly individuals—meaning 38% of the victims were women, children, and the elderly.
Al-Barsh condemned the world’s silence despite their knowledge of the publicly documented health genocide committed by the enemy, saying: "The enemy forces are not only carrying out a systematic famine and a suffocating siege that even prevents the entry of aid, but senior officials openly stated their desire to evacuate Gazans through forced displacement operations, which are classified as war crimes under international law and the Geneva Conventions."
He denounced the world’s abandonment of Gaza’s residents, particularly after the United Nations declared genocide in Gaza at the end of last month.
Al-Barsh pointed out that "with each passing day, the death toll from the famine imposed by the enemy increases, with the number of deaths due to starvation reaching 420, including 145 children."
It is worth noting that the United Nations officially announced for the first time on the 22nd of last month the widespread outbreak of famine in the Gaza Strip—the first time famine has been declared in the Middle East.
The World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) issued a joint statement in Geneva, confirming that more than half a million people in Gaza are trapped in famine.
