Innovative Asics Novalis Styrax Breeze Mule: A Breathable 3D-Printed Marvel

Asics is picking up where its 2022 Actibreeze 3D sandals left off for a futuristic new mule designed in collaboration with longtime brand partner Kiko Kostadinov.

Released in early October, select sizes in the Asics Novalis Styrax Breeze mule are still available from asics.com. The pair comes in unisex sizing and utilizes a unique lattice-style construction which allows for high levels of breathability while maintaining comfort and structure.

The recently launched model is an amalgamation of the aforementioned Actibreeze 3D sandal and the Asics Novalis Gel-Styrax. The latter model is part of Kostadinov’s experimental Novalis line and was first introduced in 2024. Unlike the woven mesh construction of the Gel-Styax, the Styrax Breeze lives up to its name with a fully 3D-printed upper for maximum airflow. And while the ’22 release was an open-toe affair, the mule version adds a closed toe for a new, more protected look.

According to Asics, the lattice structure of the Styrax Breeze provides “advanced comfort over extended durations on your feet.”

Asics introduced the original Actibreeze 3D sandal in July ’22. Priced at $80, the pair was quick to sell out and currently resells for more than $200. The Japanese sportswear manufacturer followed up on the momentum of that model with the Actibreeze Hybrid Sandal, which paired a 3D-printed footbed with a more traditional foam build. A sequel, the Actibreeze Hybrid Sandal 2, is currently available for $90.

As for other recent Novalis offerings from Kostadinov, Asica and the designer recently launched two new colorways of the Gel-Styrax model in Graphite Gray/Teal and Obsidian Gray/Ruse Orange. The styles retail for $250 and can be found from Asics’ e-commerce store.

The Asics Novalis Styrax Breeze is available now in black exclusively from asics.com for $250. It’s worth noting that the futuristic model comes in sizes XS through XL instead of typical shoe sizing, so customers will want to consult the size guide on Asics’ website before purchasing.
