Jordan Advances Prosthetics and Orthotics at 3rd Scientific Day

The 3rd Scientific Day of the Jordanian National Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (JNSPO) brought together regional and international leaders in rehabilitation science for a day of shared learning, innovation, and partnership. The event was held under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, reflecting national recognition of the critical role Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) professionals play in restoring mobility and dignity for people with limb loss and physical disabilities.

In collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences – Prosthetics & Orthotics Department (UASPO) and supported by representatives from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), the gathering marked a significant step in Jordan’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development in the O&P field.

Knowledge Exchange and Innovation

The Scientific Day featured presentations, research showcases, and interactive sessions led by faculty members, clinicians, and students from Jordan University’s O&P program. Topics ranged from clinical case studies and emerging technologies in prosthetic design to discussions on ethical standards and global best practices in rehabilitation.

ISPO representatives highlighted the importance of aligning academic curricula with international standards and fostering continuous education across the IMEA region. Their participation underscored ISPO’s global mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals in need of assistive devices through education, training, and knowledge exchange.

Empowering the Next Generation

Students from UASPO played an active role throughout the event, presenting research posters and demonstrating innovative device prototypes. Their enthusiasm and technical skills reflected the growing strength of Jordan’s new generation of O&P professionals—equipped with both compassion and competence to meet evolving patient needs.

Regional Collaboration and Future Outlook

The event also emphasized regional cooperation, with discussions focusing on establishing stronger links between educational institutions, professional societies, and healthcare providers across the Middle East. ISPO’s engagement with JNSPO and UASPO signals ongoing efforts to create unified frameworks for training, accreditation, and professional recognition.

In his address, Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq commended the dedication of O&P professionals and students who are transforming challenges into opportunities for human impact. He affirmed continued support for initiatives that strengthen Jordan’s rehabilitation sector and expand access to high-quality prosthetic and orthotic care.
