Saudi Volunteer Medical Projects Bring Hope to Syrian Children

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched two volunteer medical projects in pediatric cardiac catheterization as well as prosthetics and rehabilitation in Damascus, as part of the Saudi “Amal” volunteer program to support the Syrian people. These projects, running from August 15 to 22, bring together a team of 11 skilled medical professionals from a range of specialties including pediatric cardiology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, and nursing. The initiative not only aims to provide life-saving cardiac procedures for children with congenital or acquired heart conditions but also seeks to restore mobility and improve quality of life for those in need of prosthetic limbs and rehabilitative care.

Through advanced interventions in pediatric cardiac catheterization, the medical team is offering essential procedures that can help prevent life-threatening complications and support long-term health for young patients. The prosthetics and rehabilitation project provides custom-fitted artificial limbs and follow-up therapeutic programs to help beneficiaries regain independence, mobility, and confidence in daily activities. By tailoring treatments to each patient's unique medical and personal needs, the program ensures holistic support and lasting impact.

This initiative stands as part of Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts to assist vulnerable individuals and families affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria. In addition to offering direct medical services, KSrelief's work also involves collaboration with local medical centers, training of local healthcare personnel, and delivering much-needed supplies and equipment. Through such interventions, KSrelief is helping to rebuild hope and foster resilience in communities grappling with the devastating effects of prolonged conflict and resource shortages.
