Over the past 12 months, an amazing transformation has been unfolding in the lives of 13 children who have been gifted freedom and a new lease on life!
Each of these children, previously faced with the overwhelming experience of illness or injury and subsequent amputation, received a donation of R50,000 that went towards receiving and being fitted with a prosthetic leg.
The initiative was made possible by Star Foundation’s generous contributions and support towards Jumping Kids – the changemakers who transform the lives of young individuals, providing them with the support they need to overcome physical challenges.
Recognising that every child deserves the chance to run, jump, and dream without limitation, a total contribution of R600,000 from the Star Foundation afforded 13 children that very opportunity!
For Grade 4 Gauteng pupil Kabo Tinyiko Ngcukana, who dreams of playing netball and participating in athletics, receiving her prosthetic device empowered her. It has also helped her better navigate home and her school life with confidence.
Similarly, Bokang Diale, who was born with a congenital condition resulting in a below-knee amputation, received a prosthetic leg and discovered her passion for running after learning to navigate with it.
The Foundation is honoured to have played a part in their journey and the lives of the 11 others, providing them with the support they need to overcome physical challenges so that they may live, explore and discover, like any other child.
