TTD BIRRD Hospital Hosts Free Medical Camp for Orthopaedic Care

The TTD-run BIRRD Hospital on Monday (November 10, 2025) organised a large-scale free medical camp at the Bhagwan Sri Venkaiah Swamy Ashram Vaidyashala at Golagamudi in Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, marking a significant expansion of its outreach services. The camp, the first since Dr. G. Jagadesh resumed charge as Director of BIRRD Hospital, drew an overwhelming response, with more than 300 patients receiving specialised orthopaedic care.

The camp mainly focused on orthopaedic ailments, spinal disorders, and children’s disabilities. Dr. Jagadesh and his team examined several cases of cerebral palsy and congenital deformities, ensuring that patients requiring surgeries will receive them free of cost under the State-sponsored NTR Aarogyasri scheme.

He also said that BIRRD’s knee replacement surgeries will now employ internationally standardised implants. The cost of the treatment which generally runs into lakhs of rupees will be offered under NTR Arogyasri for a mere ₹72,000 covering the cost of the implants of reputed international companies. Should the patients falling under BPL category bear the cost of the implants, the expenses towards surgery, hospital stay, meals and medication will be provided at free by the TTD.

Further amplifying its humanitarian outreach, BIRRD inaugurated an Artificial Limb Manufacturing Centre at the ashram, enabling modern prosthetic fitting for amputees.

Jagadesh affirmed that such camps will now be organised periodically at various places across the State, further cementing BIRRD’s mission to deliver advanced, compassionate healthcare to society’s most vulnerable.
