Assessment Camp for Seniors Under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana in Bhavnagar

An assessment camp for senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana has been organised at Sir T Hospital in Bhavnagar. The camp, which commenced on June 30, is set to conclude on Thursday, providing a crucial platform for the identification and support of elderly individuals in the region. This initiative is spearheaded by Union Minister of State (Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution) Nimuben Bambhaniya, who also serves as the MP representing the Bhavnagar-Botad constituency, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the elderly population.

According to an official release, in the initial two days of the camp alone, 2,655 beneficiaries have been identified to receive assistive devices valued at over Rs 43 lakh, marking a significant step toward inclusivity and support for vulnerable senior citizens.

The camp is being organised in partnership with the Ujjain production centre of the Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), ensuring access to high-quality assistive technology. A diverse array of supportive equipment—including walking sticks, walkers, wheelchairs, hearing aids, artificial dentures, orthopaedic belts, and commode chairs—are being provided entirely free of cost to all senior citizens aged above 60. This comprehensive approach underscores a broader vision of dignified and independent living for the elderly, empowering them to navigate daily life with greater ease and comfort.

In a bid to extend the impact of this initiative beyond Bhavnagar city, similar assessment camps are scheduled to take place at various taluka centres throughout the Lok Sabha constituency from July 4 to 15. These decentralized efforts aim to ensure that elderly residents across the region have convenient and equitable access to essential assistive devices, reinforcing the central government’s ongoing commitment to elder care and societal inclusion.
