The Rajasthan Chapter of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Association of India (OPAI) has honoured Dr. Rajiv Agrawal with the prestigious ‘Prosthetics and Orthotics Ratna’ award, recognizing his outstanding contributions and nearly three decades of service to the field of medical rehabilitation.
The award celebrates Dr. Agrawal’s lifelong dedication to improving the lives of individuals with limb loss, deformities, and mobility challenges. Over his extensive career, he has been instrumental in advancing awareness, education, and clinical excellence within the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) community of Rajasthan and beyond.
A Lifelong Commitment to Rehabilitation Care
Receiving the award, Dr. Agrawal emphasized the vital role prosthetists and orthotists play in multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
“A prosthetist and orthotist is an extremely important member of the medical rehabilitation team,” he said. “We not only fit artificial limbs but also treat pain and deformities such as flat foot, cavus foot, hammer toe, diabetic foot, knee, ankle, back, and cervical pain, as well as conditions like polio and post-burn hypertrophy.”
His statement reflects a deep understanding of the holistic approach required in modern rehabilitation — where physical restoration is accompanied by pain management, functional correction, and long-term follow-up care.
Transforming Lives Through Expertise and Compassion
Throughout his career, Dr. Agrawal has worked closely with hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and community health initiatives, helping thousands regain mobility and confidence. His commitment to ethical, patient-centered care has set a benchmark in the state’s rehabilitation ecosystem.
Beyond clinical excellence, Dr. Agrawal has been an advocate for professional education and collaboration, mentoring young prosthetists and orthotists, and helping strengthen the profession’s standing within the wider healthcare system.
Recognition from the O&P Community
The Prosthetics and Orthotics Ratna award is one of the highest honours conferred by the OPAI Rajasthan Chapter, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, leadership, and advocacy for the O&P field. The association praised Dr. Agrawal for his enduring dedication and his contributions toward making high-quality prosthetic and orthotic care accessible to those in need.
A Legacy of Service
As the O&P profession in India continues to evolve — with the integration of digital tools, 3D printing, and advanced materials — leaders like Dr. Rajiv Agrawal remain a guiding force, bridging tradition and innovation. His recognition serves as an inspiration to the next generation of clinicians committed to restoring movement, independence, and dignity for all.
