Nigeria's Paul Maduakor Joins CAAF to Boost African Amputee Football

The Confederation of African Amputee Football (CAAF) has appointed Ambassador Paul Maduakor, President of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF), to serve on its powerful Development and Sponsorship Committee for the 2025–2028 term.

This new role places Nigeria’s foremost amputee football administrator at the center of decision-making on how African amputee football will attract funding, secure sponsorships, and scale grassroots development across the continent.

CAAF’s Development and Sponsorship Committee is tasked with mobilizing resources, forging corporate and donor partnerships, and building sustainable structures that will expand access to the game for thousands of amputee athletes.

Ambassador Maduakor, who has been instrumental in repositioning NAFF and championing Nigeria’s amputee footballers on the global stage, brings a wealth of experience in advocacy, sports diplomacy, and programme development. His appointment is seen as both a recognition of Nigeria’s growing influence in adaptive sport and a strategic move to accelerate progress across Africa.

“This is not just a personal honor but a win for Nigeria and African amputee football. We now have a stronger voice in shaping the future of our sport — from grassroots development to global sponsorship opportunities,” Ambassador Maduakor said after the announcement.

Analysts note that the committee’s work will be critical in transforming amputee football from a developing sport into a self-sustaining movement. Early successes will likely be measured in corporate sponsorships, equipment deals, and grassroots pilot programmes launched across underserved African countries.

With Ambassador Maduakor on the frontlines of this effort, expectations are high that the next four years could mark a turning point for inclusivity, visibility, and financial sustainability in African amputee football
