Advancements in Lower Limb Orthotics: Join ISPO Expert Webinar

Join ISPO on 30 October 2025 at 13:00 CET for an ISPO CPD Committee webinar that brings together leading voices from across orthotics, rehabilitation, and clinical research to examine the latest advancements in lower limb orthotic design and practical application. Moderated by Bryan Malas, this session features expert presentations from Soji Tanaka and Volker Schmidt, each offering a multidimensional perspective rooted in both clinical experience and emerging technologies.

Designed for professionals involved in prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation, and related medtech fields, the webinar will highlight clinical best practices, industry innovation, and real-world case examples relevant to patient care.

Volker Schmidt will lead with “Assessment and Clinical Indications for Orthotic Use,” focusing on the interplay of orthotic design, material selection, and patient-specific requirements. His segment includes an in-depth case study illustrating evidence-based decision making in orthotic prescription and fabrication—providing actionable insights for both clinical and technical specialists.

Building on this, Soji Tanaka will present “Biomechanical Effects of Lower Limb Orthotics on EMG Activity and 3D Gait Analysis in Neurological Disorders,” sharing research-driven findings with an emphasis on stroke rehabilitation. Attendees will learn how advanced analysis methods—such as surface electromyography and 3D motion capture—are transforming the understanding of functional outcomes and enabling greater personalization of orthotic solutions.

Participation is free for ISPO members and EUR 15 for non-members. Please allow up to 48 hours for membership verification and processing of Zoom access details. Non-members will receive a payment link upon registration. Whether you are a clinician, researcher, technician, or educator, this webinar offers a platform to deepen your knowledge, connect with peers, and stay at the forefront of multidisciplinary practice in orthotics and prosthetics.
