Uttar Pradesh Launches Statewide Prosthetic Limb Distribution Initiative

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced plans to launch a comprehensive statewide initiative to distribute prosthetic limbs and assistive devices to over 16,000 beneficiaries. Under this drive, every district has been mandated to allocate and distribute a minimum of 10 motorised tricycles, prioritising the delivery of mobility solutions specifically tailored to recipients’ individual needs. This initiative is designed not only to provide physical support but also to foster the active social integration and empowerment of individuals with disabilities, reinforcing their role in the mainstream community.

To ensure swift and efficient implementation, the government has directed district officials to accelerate all associated processes, with particular emphasis on expediting aid to beneficiaries who have already been verified as eligible. Strict oversight by local MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives is being maintained throughout the campaign, promoting transparency and timely distribution across all regions.

Beyond the physical distribution of mobility aids, the government is intensifying efforts to advance the Divyangjan Protsahan Puraskar Yojana—a scheme that provides financial support to people with disabilities who enter into marriage. Authorities have received clear instructions to process all pending applications for this program without delay, ensuring that all eligible individuals receive prompt and transparent assistance, as highlighted in the official statement.
