ISPO World Congress 2027 Bangkok to Bring Back Technical Track for P&O Technicians

The ISPO World Congress 2027 in Bangkok will once again include a dedicated Technical Track for prosthetic and orthotic technicians, building on the strong success of the format at the 2025 congress and creating another important platform for technicians to share their manufacturing knowledge with the global profession.

The Technical Track made its debut at the 2025 ISPO Congress, where technicians were given the opportunity to present on a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic manufacturing techniques. Presentation sessions ranged from 30 to 60 minutes, with international technicians covering a broad mix of fabrication methods, practical workshop techniques, and production approaches.

According to the update, the 2025 Technical Track was a major success, with lecture rooms close to full for each session. That response underlined something many in the sector already know: technicians remain central to the quality, innovation, and practical development of prosthetic and orthotic care, yet they have often had fewer opportunities than clinicians or researchers to present their expertise on an international stage.

The return of the Technical Track in Bangkok 2027 is therefore significant. It gives technicians another chance to present the real-world skills and workshop-based innovations that help shape modern O&P service delivery, from fabrication processes and material handling to finishing techniques, workflow improvements, and problem-solving on complex cases.

The announcement also includes a direct call for technicians to submit presentations for the 2027 Congress. Those with a manufacturing technique, workshop method, or practical production insight to share are being encouraged to take part, even if they have never presented before. That message is particularly important for the wider O&P profession, where some of the most valuable knowledge is still held in workshops and fabrication departments rather than in formal conference papers.

For first-time presenters, the organisers are also highlighting that support is available. ISPO has a recorded session on how to write an abstract and prepare a presentation, helping make the Technical Track more accessible to technicians who may have strong practical experience but limited previous conference exposure.

Another notable element is the continued support for live or practical demonstrations. According to the announcement, diamond sponsor Ottobock will again provide a fully equipped workshop and tools for use during presentations, opening the door for technicians to demonstrate methods in a more hands-on and engaging way.

For the IMEA CPO audience, the return of the Technical Track is especially relevant. Across India, the Middle East, and Africa, technicians play a critical role in the delivery of prosthetic and orthotic care, yet their contribution is still too often under-recognised in international conference programming. A platform like this helps raise the visibility of technician-led innovation and gives practical manufacturing knowledge the professional recognition it deserves.

The submission gateway for presentations is expected to open on 25 March 2026, with more details to follow once the abstract portal is live. For technicians who have been considering stepping forward to share their work, ISPO World Congress 2027 may offer one of the strongest opportunities yet to do exactly that.
