Marking Republic Day celebrations, the Lions International District 3242 C Pollachi Lions Club, in association with the Erode Jeevan Jyoti Trust, organised a free prosthetic limb distribution programme at NGM College here. Artificial arms and legs were provided to more than 100 beneficiaries who had lost their limbs, drawn from various parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The programme was presided over by District Governor A. Rajasekhar and organised under the leadership of Pollachi Lions Club President Nagaraj. Former Indian Medical Association President and former District Governor Dr. Palaniswami, First Vice District Governor P.S. Selvaraj, Second Vice District Governor Suri Nandagopal, GST Coordinator Senthil Kumar and former MLA Shanmugam participated as special guests and jointly handed over the prosthetic limbs to the beneficiaries. Several Lions Club office-bearers and members, including District Cabinet Secretary Raja Sundaram, Treasurer C.P. Rameshkumar, Zone President Mani, District President Vizhigal Kamaraj, Association Secretary Vijayakumar, Treasurer Thirumalaisamy, Thangaraj, Natrayan, Praveen, Keerthi, Arunadevi, Somanna Shanmugam, Dharmaraj, Dhanapal and Kanagaraj, were present at the event.

The organisers noted that the Pollachi Lions Club has been consistently conducting this humanitarian service programme for the past 13 consecutive years, extending vital support to persons with disabilities.
