Advancing India’s self-reliance and the ‘Make in India’ vision, Tynor Orthotics, the country’s largest producer of orthopaedic aids, has launched Ortech Textiles—a cutting-edge textile manufacturing facility in Mohali, Punjab. Developed with a ₹300 crore investment, this plant marks a significant step toward backward integration, eliminating dependency on Chinese imports.
The modern facility was inaugurated with Punjab’s Industries, IT & Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond officiating as Chief Guest, and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh in attendance as Guest of Honour.
Covering six acres, Ortech Textiles is dedicated to supplying raw materials exclusively to Tynor Orthotics, thereby boosting production quality and operational efficiency. With its existing ₹600 crore production line, Tynor aims to expand to ₹2,000 crore in operations, supported by the new facility.
Dr. P. J. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Tynor Orthotics, described the launch as a crucial step towards total self-reliance. “This in-house facility will produce advanced technical textiles for orthopaedic aids, resulting in a 25% enhancement in product quality and a 25% reduction in raw material expenses,” he stated.
Beyond product improvements, the facility is expected to create jobs for 1,000 to 1,500 people, making a notable impact on local employment. Executive Director A. J. Singh also shared plans to increase the Tynor Group workforce from 2,500 to 5,000, leveraging the enhanced capacity and productivity of the new plant.
Singh acknowledged the Punjab Government’s forward-looking industrial strategies for enabling such a substantial investment. “With this infrastructure, we are positioned to become one of the top three global orthopaedic aid manufacturers,” he said.
Ortech is outfitted with state-of-the-art machinery, including 3D and jacquard knitting, lamination, and neoprene fabric production systems, giving Tynor a significant advantage in fully integrated, high-performance orthopaedic manufacturing.
Currently leading the market in India and five additional countries, Tynor exports to more than 60 destinations worldwide. Following the launch of Ortech, the company plans to grow its presence to 100 emerging global markets.
The opening of Ortech Textiles establishes Tynor and Punjab as leaders in India’s rapidly growing medical manufacturing industry, emphasizing ongoing innovation, economic progress, and competitiveness on the world stage.
