An upcoming webinar will bring together leading experts to explore the key clinical and technical factors involved in helping individuals with lower limb amputations run with a prosthesis, offering practical guidance for rehabilitation and prosthetic professionals working in mobility and sport.
The session will feature Robert Gailey, PhD, PT, FAPTA, of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, alongside Peter Harsch, CP, of Peter Harsch Prosthetics and Ottobock.care. Together, they will examine the essential foundations of sports-specific prosthetic design for running, including socket design, suspension systems, alignment, and fabrication considerations for high-impact activity.

The webinar will also introduce a practical five-step clinical framework designed to support patients as they progress from initial prosthetic use to confident running. In addition, attendees can expect discussion on assessment methods, corrective techniques to improve gait mechanics and agility, and strategies to support a safe return to sport.
For prosthetists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation teams, and sports mobility specialists, the session is expected to provide valuable insight into the transition from everyday ambulation to higher-performance activity. It also highlights the growing importance of structured, interdisciplinary approaches to sports participation for people living with limb loss.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 29 April at 16:00 CEST. Participation is free for ISPO members and costs EUR 15 for non-members. To improve accessibility for an international audience, the session will include live interpretation in French and Spanish, along with multi-language captions.
Professionals interested in the topic are encouraged to reserve their place for the 29 April session.
